Martlets Sweep T-P

Despite the long travel time for the week, the team was ready and eager to face off against Trinity-Pawling and build another win on the season. Starting off with doubles, co captains Will Whiting ‘24 and David Suit ‘24 had a great streak in their #1 match, pulling it off 8-3. Logan Sun ‘24 teamed up with none other than Alex “The Cheetah” Chen ‘24 and had some great points in their pro set victory. Will Henry ‘26 and Finn Hocking ‘26 also played steady and served great to win their match 8-3. There was also a feel-good exhibition where the team of Alexei Kocatas ‘25 and Liam Hibbard ‘27 took on Hugh Olson ‘25 and an extra TP player with some promised McDonald’s on the line, the double martlet duo secured the win 8-5 but the volume was electric and joyous on court four. Up 1-0 overall heading into singles. Olson, Hibbard and Henry only lost a few games each in their matches at #5, #4 and #6 respectively, giving the boys the overall win! Sun and Suit had some excellent points at #3 and #1, especially in the second sets, but secured rebound wins of their own to get two more points on the board. The last man on was Whiting at the #2 spot, who play a speedy, great server, but used his tactics and slice well and got the win to gain the sweep. Thank you again to our great hosts, and the crew will look ahead to arguably the biggest week of their regular reason with Avon at home on Wednesday.
