Monroe Dominates in Win

Marleigh Monroe '24 allowed just four hits and struck out 10 batters to lead Westminster to a 5-0 win over a strong Cushing Academy team. Anna Hassett '27 paced the offense with four singles. Monroe, Mia Magriz '25, and Lily Shuster  '27 had two hits apiece, and Melody El-Amin '27 drove in two runs for the Martlets. Hassett, El-Amin, and Paige Herlihy '25  had RBIs during a three run first inning. Game highlights included Gabby de la Fe '26 throwing out a runner at second base in the fifth frame, with Herlihy making a great tag to extinguish a possible Cushing rally. It was one of many fine plays made by de la Fe throughout the afternoon. At second base, Gordon was involved in five putouts and turned in another gold glove performance. El-Amin was exceptional catching and calling pitches for seven innings. Monroe pitched a gem. The Martlets will next play at home against Williston Northampton on Monday, 5/6.
